My name is Candida Diaz and I am a Single Subject Candidate in Santa Clara University's MATTC program, graduating in 2021. I completed my undergraduate degree at SCU, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology in 2000, with an applied emphasis in Business and Human Services.
I love children (having 6 myself) and have worked for several years in a local K-8 school as Development Director and a substitute teacher. For a few years I also worked for an organization called Youth For Understanding, working with high school foreign exchange students, finding them host families within the US, and enrolling them in US high schools. I also volunteer for the City of Santa Clara as a Commissioner on the Cultural Commission, serving in that role since 2017. The Cultural Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council and makes recommendations on programs/activities to encourage educational, cultural, sports, technical and governmental exchanges to help acquaint citizens of Santa Clara with cultural and political diversity here and abroad.
I was born in San Jose and attended primary school in Santa Clara. I remember when our school purchased their first Apple computers (the Apple IIe) in 1983 and it was so exciting! I have been hooked on technology ever since. In my current role, I serve not only as Development Director, but at the start of the pandemic when our school moved to distance learning I became the school's Google Classroom site coordinator, training and getting our teachers set up, as well as providing tech support. As a future educator, I understand the importance of utilizing technology within the classroom, providing opportunities for students to learn, collaborate, and discover new ideas/material.
I invite you to peruse a few technology applications that I have posted on this website. There are several more that I have experience working with, so if you have questions please let me know.
You are welcome to contact me if you have any questions about me or the technology that I am posting on this website.
